Crossroads of History

I've always loved history! For someone is mostly an armchair traveler, like I am, it's always fun to take a trip back in time and see how people lived in the past. History is an extensive field of study because everything that exists in the world has a history. History is simply the story of what happened in the past and how things came to be the way they are now. History isn't just about big things, like wars and social movements, but about the small, everyday pieces of our lives. Every invention has a history of how it was created and how it has changed over the years. Games similarly have a history of how they were created and how the rules have changed over time. There are people who are passionate about documenting recipes and fashions from the past. It's difficult to describe everything that was going on at any particular period of history because there was so much going on in every period of history, and how different people saw the same events would depend on the type of lives they were living and their perspective about what was happening around them.

I have many different hobbies and interests, and I like finding new ways to combine them. Since I began studying web design, I started creating a number of different website, dedicated to my various hobbies and interests. This is one of them. However, the more my projects tie in with each other, the better I like them. One of my first hobby sites was a site dedicated to Historical Games because I like games as well as history. I included some information about different periods of history as well as the rules for games played during those periods. To my surprise, one of the things that readers liked most about the site was the bibliography sections, where I explained not only the sources of information that I used but offered additional sources and talked about the merits of each of them. What I learned from that experience was that many peopole enjoy history or are doing projects for history classes and don't know quite where to start looking for information.

For this particular website project, I decided to take some of my historical information from other projects, including Historical Games, and expand on them with more extensive resource pages for people who want to know more. This type of information would also be useful for another of my interests, writing, because people who write historical fiction need to know the details of life in the past. As the resources pages will show you, the information here doesn't just come from me but from many other people and sources. Feel free to share what you know and suggest other sources of information! As with all of my website projects, this site is always a work in progress, and I will be back from time to time to add to the information, update it, and fix any errors that occur along the way.
